A copper bath can transform your bathroom into a luxury space for you to enjoy and relax in. Our Siena Copper Bateau with its nickel-plated interior, freestanding taps and bath waste is a fantastic example of one of these beautiful additions. As well as being highly attractive, there are a number of reasons why you should consider investing in one of these baths!

Bacteria And Mould-Resistant

Studies have found that bacteria can only survive for a couple of hours on copper, which makes copper baths hygienic. To keep your bathtub in great condition, you simply need to follow these instructions.

Copper Exterior:

  • Rinse the bath with water after every use and pat the surface dry. This prevents mineral deposit buildup and is especially important if you live in a hard water area.
  • To clean, use a soft cloth and mild soap from time to time. Due to being bacteria and mould-resistant, frequent cleaning is unnecessary.
  • Avoid using abrasives when cleaning as these can cause scratches and other damage.
  • If you do not wish your copper bath to patina or tarnish over time, we recommend applying a protective wax every 4-6 weeks. However, if these changes do occur, and are unwanted, the material can be polished back to its showroom appearance.

Nickel-plated interior:

  • Wash with warm, soapy water and dry after each use.
  • Every 4-6 weeks, we advise using a protective wax, which is supplied in the care kit.
  • Avoid harsh chemical and bath bombs. If the nickel surface is penetrated, it is very hard to repair

A Copper Bath Improves With Age!

Copper offers what is described as a ‘living finish’. This is a rare characteristic that distinguishes it from other materials and causes the finish to change as the metal ages. Your copper bath, if you choose not to use a protective wax, may change in the following ways.

When copper interacts with its environment over time, its colour deepens, moving from lighter almost salmon-like hues to rich reds and browns. Eventually, it will stabilise as a rich, dark tone. How fast these changes will occur and the final shade the bath will reach depends on how it is used.

It is also possible for copper to naturally patina to a green shade, which occurs when copper oxidises due to exposure to the atmosphere. This is a highly desirable effect.

Further Benefits

Long-Lasting - Copper baths are renowned for being long-lasting and, as we only use the highest calibre of copper available, you will have yours for many years to come!

Health Benefits - Copper reduces inflammation associated with rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporosis, tendonitis and sports injuries, resulting in a therapeutic effect on joint movement and connective tissue. This is achieved simply by touching a copper surface as it allows your body to absorb trace amounts of this essential element.

Heat Conduction - Copper heats up faster and retains heat longer than other metals, hence why it is used in plumbing. Once run, the water will stay warm for longer, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing soak. Plus, not having to top up the hot water means less energy used, which is good for the environment and good for your bills.

Environmentally Friendly - Copper baths are also an environmentally friendly option as copper is a recyclable material, and, due to its long-lasting nature, will not need to be replaced for years!
